St. Marys: A Green City
Situated in Auglaize County is the river city of St. Marys, Ohio. It is under the Micropolitan Statistical Area of Wapakoneta. The city was established in the early 18th century with its name taken from the nearby St. Marys River. Before all that, it was a measly land called Girty’s Town. Dating back the ancient times, because of the town’s close proximity to both the rivers Auglaize and St. Marys, it served as a fort and a port. Allen County Airport (AOH) is about half an hour ride away.
Best Time to Visit
St. Marys experiences light to moderate rain throughout the year with a mix of snow during winter. Half the year is cold while the other half is warm. Tourism is at an all-time high during these months so expect St. Marys hotels to be pricey. St. Marys Summerfest is held August of every year.
