Sioux Gateway Airport – SUXSioux Gateway
The Sioux Gateway Airport is a public and military airport located seven miles (11 kilometers) south of the central business district of Sioux City, Iowa. It’s about 100 miles north of Omaha, Nebraska and 90 miles south of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Home to the 185th Air Refueling Wing of the Iowa Air National Guard, the airport was christened Colonel Bud Day Field on May 25th 2002, in honor of Colonel George Everette “Bud” Day of the United States Air Force. He was a native of Sioux City and the only person to ever receive both the Medal of Honor and the Air Force Cross.

Situated on 2,460 acres (996 hectares) of land, SUX-Sioux Gateway Airport has two runways: the concrete 13/31 which measures 9,002 x 150 feet (2,744 x 46 meters), and the asphalt 17/35 at 6,600 x 150 feet (2,012 x 46 meters). It has a 58-year old terminal building that underwent a $6.2 million remodeling which was completed in June of 2011. The Sioux Gateway Airport offers three daily nonstop American Airlines flights to Chicago and one daily nonstop flight to Dallas/Ft. Worth.Travelers will find it easy getting to South Sioux City, Sioux City, Le Mars, Onawa, and Marcus from SUX.
