Tsavo: A Biodiversity Stronghold
Tsavo, Kenya is a region situated at the crossing of the Uganda Railway over the Tsavo River. It has a rich biodiversity, with flora including acacia, baobab, and myrrh. Wildlife in the region include African bush elephant, cape buffalo, cheetah, lion, and even tsetse fly.

The perfect time to visit Tsavo is during the months of June through September, for the best weather. Peak tourist season is usually during the months of March, August, and December. Tourists are least likely to visit in September.
What to Do & Area Attractions
One of the most well-known attractions in the region is Tsavo East National Park, one of the biggest and oldest parks in the country. Opened in 1948, it was named after the Tsavo River. Most of it consists of savanna and semi-arid grasslands. It is considered as one of the biodiversity strongholds of the world. It is home to the popular “big 5”, black rhino, cape buffalo, elephant, leopard, and lion. The park also has various attractions, such as Aruba Dam, Mudanda Rock, among others. Aruba Dam, established in the 1950s, has a reservoir attracting various animals. Mudanda Rock provides exceptional vantage point for animals coming to drink. If you are feeling adventurous, visit the Shetani Lava Flow. Tourists should also visit Tsavo West National Park, which is popular for Mzima Springs, rhino reserve, and rock climbing.
