It is home to 2 nature reserves, Getteron Nature Reserve and Western Getteron Nature Reserve. The former is older and more popular than the latter. Established in 1970, it is a declared Ramsar wetland of international importance. It is one of the country’s finest bird sanctuaries. Tourists should also visit Varberg Fortress, an old fortification established by Count Jacob Nielsen in the late 13th century. It is currently home to another must-see attraction in the area, Halland Museum of Cultural History. The museum is well-known for its Bocksten Man, wearing the only complete clothing from the 14th century believed to have been worn by an individual. It also displays the button believed to have been used as a bullet to kill Karl XII. It used to be called “Varberg County Museum” until it adopted its current name in 2011. Also visit the Varberg Castle and the nearby Kallbadhuset. A number of Varberg Sweden hotels guarantee customer-oriented accommodation services at reasonable rates.
