Passenger service has been offered by Vernal Regional Airport as early as the 1950s with the help of Frontier Airlines. Over the years, other commuter airlines have served the airport including Transwestern Airlines, SkyWest Airlines, and Great Lakes Airlines. Currently, United Express Airlines offers passenger service thanks to the US EAS program. The airline takes passengers from the airport to Denver. Ballard, Jensen, and Roosevelt residents use the flight services of VEL Airport for their air travel needs.
