Veraval: Northwest India’s Popular Fishing Hub
Serving as the headquarters of the district of Gir Somnath, Veraval, India is a municipality known as the fishing hub of the country. It lies along the coast of the Arabian Sea, in the northwestern section of India. Veraval was established way back in the 1200s or 1300s as a thriving port town. And today, the village is still among the biggest of its kind in the country.
Best Time to Visit
Since the town is mainly composed of Gujaratis, Veraval celebrates a wide variety of events to toast to their vibrant Gujarati culture. One such event is the Uttarayan or Kite Festival held every mid-January. There is typically no rains during this time of year, and the weather is particularly pleasant for kite flying. However, January is the busiest time of year for most of Veraval, India hotels as the tourist population soars to an all-time high.

When coming into Veraval, you should include the Nagarpalika Garden in your itinerary so that you can familiarize yourself with flora and fauna in the locality.
