WEB DuBois Center, Accra, Ghana
W.E.B. DuBois Center is surrounded by serene beauty and it is tucked away in the city of Accra, Ghana. It is also a short distance to the city center. W.E.B. DuBois Center is composed of the complex made up of four buildings. It includes Dr. Du Bois home, administrative building, Marcus Garvey Guest House and the tombs of Dr. Du Bois and his wife. There is also an open-air theater that is just behind the home of Dr Du Boise. The main house became a library and seminar room. The library contains personal collections and various works of Pan Africanism topics. In order to access the library, one needs to obtain a special pass. Casual visitors are allowed to some areas of the center.
W.E.B. DuBois Center is near the East Legon and Sakumono. Jamestown Lighthouse is located in the district of Jamestown. It is a 28-meters structure that was built in 1930. It has replaced the earlier lighthouse. Kokrobite Beach is one of the natural resources located in town. It is a great way to soak under the sun. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial is dedicated to the famous Ghania president. It is a memorial complex built-in 1992. Midindi Hotel is a 3-star hotel set in an upscale area. It is near the beach and the airport. The rooms are casual with tile floors and African decors. Mahogany Lodge is a hotel set in the residential area. It offers casual rooms with wi-fi. Golden Tulip Accra Hotel is a 4-star accommodation near the city center and government offices.
