The Winchester Visitors Center is every visitor’s first stop to the area. As a visitor and tourism resource center based in Winchester, Virginia, it has helpful and friendly travel counselors who are more than willing to assist guests about travel-related matters like hotel reservations, driving directions, and give tips on how to have a great vacation in Winchester. Brochures, maps, and souvenirs are also available in the center.  The center operates every day of the week from 9am to 5pm. Free bus and RV parking is also available on-site.

One of the popular lodgings in the vicinity is the Hillbrook Inn, a B&B which sits on a 30-acre land once owned by George Washington. Another one is the quaint Smithfield Farm Bed and Breakfast which occupies a 19th-century brick manor house with an annex and a farm. The Carriage Inn B&B is already a landmark in the area having been built in 1840. Winchester as well as its neighboring cities Martinsburg and Ranson are exciting all-year destination for travelers who wish to explore the region. The John Brown Wax Museum is a unique wax figure and diorama museum depicting scenes from historical periods.  Another museum which features artifacts and local history items such as quilts, military uniforms, and railroad memorabilia is the Triple Brick Museum housed in a structure from mid-1870s. Still another one that showcases the area’s rich history is the Rumsey Steamboat Museum, a working replica of James Rumsey’s 1787 steamboat built especially for the bicentennial in 1987.
