Traveling to West End, the oldest town and westernmost settlement of Bahamian Island, is accessible by air through West End Airport. The airport serves the area of Grand Bahama. WTD Airport is strategically situated at West End, Bahamas. It is a private airport and is available for use by pre-approved aircraft by West End Airport Management and Bahamas ATC. Aircraft that fails to comply with the requirements as mandated by the management will be denied future landing privileges.
Best Time to Visit
West End Airport serves private and charter planes. The airport has one runway. WTD Airport is for daytime use only and is open from 0800H until 1700H, 7 days a week. Once the aircraft has received approval, it can land within 24 hours. The pilot should talk to the person-in-charge before landing so that customs and immigration process can be arranged. For international arrivals, there are Standard Bahamas Forms that need to be completed. Upon arriving, travelers can head-off to Deadman's Reef, a famous snorkeling spot or visit Freeport, best known for the oceanfront Lucaya district.
