Yaizu: A Thriving Town of Both Land and Sea Products
Nestled within the prefecture of Shizuoka, Yaizu, Japan is a city of just around 140,000 residents. The town is well-known for its commercial fishing, as it is located along the Pacific Ocean. However, this makes the summer months in the city humid and hot, while the winters are short and cool. The primary products in Yaizu are tuna, bonito, and mackerel, although there are also melons, green tea, and tangerines harvested in the town.
Best Time to Visit
The Yaizu Shrine Ara-matsuri Festival held every summer month of August at the Yaizu Shrine is one of the most locally anticipated events of the community. This is typically hosted for two days, where food stalls and parades are held in the town. Expect a considerably low number of tourists and cheaper Yaizu, Japan hotels during this time of year.
