Yangyang: A City of Pine Mushrooms
Located in the Gangwon Province, Yangyang, South Korea and is best known for their large supply of pine mushrooms and fish. Its home to five different religions: Confucianism, Buddhism, Shamanism, Roman Catholicism, and Protestantism. It is currently being served by the Yangyang International Airport.
Best Time to Visit
Yangyang, South Korea hotels are typically packed during the months of March, April, and September. These are the season of great weather so expect air prices and hotel rates to peak up. If you’re trying to save on the trip however, try visiting during the month of July when there are less people milling about. As mentioned, the city is popular for its Pine Mushroom and even has its own Songi Pine Mushroom Festival, which occurs every September. During the festival, you can witness the offering of mushroom to the spirits and then participate in mushroom farming along the hills.
