Zarzis: An Oasis in Tunisia
The city of Zarzis, also known as Jarjis, is located in the southeastern part of Tunisia. Its rustic city mainly focuses on agriculture, oil and tourism. Its land has a reserved large portion for olive production that contributes to the mainland's economy. It is also a historical land with religious confusion that continues to hunt the city's historical background, formerly a Latin Catholic city to an Islamic city. Nonetheless, this diverse city spreads into beautiful factions of scenery, beaches, and history. The nearest and most accessible airport is the Houmt Souk - Djerba-Zarzis International Airport (DJE).
Best Time to Visit
The city can be visited all year round having little rain throughout the year. The most ideal months to visit would be during May, mid-October, and early November for comfortable weather and with lesser crowds. The busiest months would be June to September due to the summer weather; Zarzis hotel rates also increase in this season. Note that during the latter part of the year, some hotels close down due to the decrease in water temperature.
