Zihuatanejo: A City of Tradition and Modernity
Considered as the fourth-biggest city in the Guerrero State, Zihuatanejo, Mexico, is a town lying on the Pacific Coast, 150 miles away from the town of Acapulco. From a sleeping fishing village, it has been developed into a tourist destination, along with Ixtapa. However, unlike the latter, Zihuatanejo kept its traditional roots, and now, the town ranks as third in the most sought after fishing areas in the country, following Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. The city is primarily served by the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport, which is a mere 17-minute drive away. But travelers can also fly into the city via Lázaro Cárdenas Airport, which is more than an hour away.
Best Time to Visit
Zihuatanejo is home to various celebrations and festivals all year long. While July is typically the busiest month in the city, March is also one of the best times for a visit as the town hosts their annual Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival featuring world-class guitarists from across the country. Most of Zihuatanejo, Mexico hotels are packed by this time, so book your suites early.

There are numerous beaches worth visiting in Zihuatanejo, two of which area Blanca Beach and Coral Beach. You should also drop by the Magic World Aquapark while you’re in the city.
