The ideal time to visit Aguilar de Campoo is during the months of June through October, for the best weather. Peak tourist season is usually during the months of March, July, and August. People are least likely to visit in November. The town is home to the Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes de Aguilar de Campoo (FICA) International Short Film Festival, one of the country’s most important cinematographic events. Supported by the government and private entities, it aims to promote short films. Another famous event nearby is Festival Palencia Sonora, an indie-rock music festival in a green setting. The festival is held every June.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Santa Maria la Real is one of the most famous attractions in town. It is a monastery that has served home to a Premonstratensian community since the 12th century. It boasts with a transitional architectural style between Romanesque and Gothic. Do not forget to visit the Monastery of Santa Maria de Mave. Tourists should also visit the Collegiate Church of San Miguel, a parish temple with a Gothic style.
