Alfonso: Sleepy Plateau Town
Alfonso, Philippines is an upland town in the province of Cavite surrounded by neighboring famous tourist destinations such as Batangas and Tagaytay. The town’s name used to be Alas-as which referred to the abundance of Alas-as trees that grew in the area. Eventually, they named it after King Alfonso XII of Spain during the Spanish colonization. It is an easily accessible town close to a lot of tourist destination and for that reason, many travelers come by to Alfonso.
Best Time to Visit
There is a very distinct dry and wet season over at Alfonso. It is best to visit the area during summer months of March to May. Though in a tropical country, the weather in town is generally cooler than those of the other town in the Philippines. These summer months tend to have higher Alfonso PH hotel rates as there are a lot of tourists visiting the town. Sanghiyang Festival is celebrated by the locals towards the end of the year.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Although there are not a lot of areas of interest in Alfonso itself, neighboring towns with attractions are just a short drive from it. The Residence Inn Mini Zoo is a great zoo and park where you can interact with wildlife such as giraffe and monkeys. Pay a visit to the historical Calaruega Church which as a dainty red-brick façade. Hiking and other outdoor adventures are possible at Mount Batulao Peak. Close to the church, you will find the Mediterranean House Restaurant & Hotel, where you can opt to stay during your trip to Alfonso.
