Ang Thong, Thailand: Golden Basin
Ang Thong, Thailand is the capital city of a province with the same name. Located at the lower part of central Thailand, two rivers flow in this area, Noi River and Chao Phraya River, making it an abundant land, suitable for planting rice, thus the name Golden Basin of Thailand. The nearest airport is Don Mueang International Airport, 89 kilometers away from the center of Ang Thong.

The Historical and Religious sites are open to the public all throughout the year, unlike the National Marine Park that is only open from February to October because of weather conditions.

Make sure to visit the Ang Thong National Marine Park, where the famous mother island Koh Mae can be found. This island has a stunning beach and an inland saltwater lagoon called Emerald Lake (Thale Nai). While Koh Sam Sao (Tripod Island) features a beautiful coral reef formation, and some great hiking grounds.
