Watertown Regional Airport – ATY Watertown
Watertown Regional Airport (ATY) is formerly known as Watertown Municipal Airport located two miles from Watertown, South Dakota. This airport is a non-primary commercial service facility. Watertown Regional Airport mainly caters to the town of Watertown.
The U.S. Army Air Forces used ATY airfield during World War II. This airport has two runways and a passenger terminal, which was renovated in 2009 with a new design. A jet service was introduced in 2016 with talks about a possible future terminal. Currently, Watertown is recognized as South Dakota’s only commercial airport without a jet bridge.

United Express is the only airline operating in Watertown Regional Airport with daily flights to Denver and Chicago-O’Hare. Air service started in Watertown in 1938 with North Central DC9s flying in the airport. In 2016, Aerodynamics, Inc. now called California Pacific Airlines used to fly to ATY until 2015. Air flights resumed in 2019 when SkyWest Airlines also operating as United Express started servicing ATY. Pierre Regional Airport (PIR) became the top destination from ATY from 2016 to 2017.
