Best Time to Visit
In the 1990s, Maximo Gomez Airport mostly handled flights from Canada, accommodating tourists who were going to the resorts in Caya Coco. These flights have since dropped off after the construction of the bigger and more modern Jardines Del Rey Airport in 2002. There were also schedule flights to Havana for a short time after. Maximo Gomez Airport was later closed when all of its scheduled flights were redirected to Jardine Del Rey. Cities, towns, villages, and suburbs found near the airport include Cayo Coco, Moron, Ciego de Avila, and Chambas.
