Be'er Sheva Airfield – BEV
Also called as Teyman Airfield, Be'er Sheva Airfield is a public airport operated by Ayit Aviation and is located in Beersheba, Israel. The Ayit Aviation owner, Captain Eli Peretz, has been the operational manager of the airfield for 25 years now. Be'er Sheva Airfield, whose IATA code is BEV, dates back to the early World War II when its runway strip was constructed for the Royal Air Force, who will help in the western desert campaign. It was only in 1958 when the airfield became a public airport, which was first served by the Israeli airline, Arkia.
Best Time to Visit
Be'er Sheva Airfield is primarily used for general aviation activities, along with skydiving and gliding operations and flight training. It has one asphalt-paved runway, stretching to a little over a thousand meters. When Arkia started offering direct flights to Eilat in 1958, it was not long after when it stopped operations because of the poor condition of the runway. So in 1964, the airstrip was covered with a special chemical coating, and Arkia began serving the airport again. The track was also upgraded and maintained in 2003.
