Bahawalpur Airport – BHV Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur Airport (BHV) is a public airport operated by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority and is located 2.3 miles from Bahawalpur, Pakistan. BHV can be reached a few miles from the city center in lower Punjab. In 2009, BHV-Bahawalpur opened international flights to the Middle East. BHV services Pakistan International Airlines with scheduled passenger flights to Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Jeddah.

Best Time to Visit

This airport received funds for renovation from the UAE government where the Dubai Civil Aviation became in charge of supervising the airport’s extension. After the terminal was completed, it was named in honor of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai who also provided majority of the funds. In 2002, a part of the airport’s runway was opened. A royal lounge was added to accommodate the members of the royal family whenever they are traveling to Bahawalpur. Instead of constructing a VIP lounge, a Commercially Important Persons (CIP) lounge was erected. This lounge was conceived to avoid the VIP culture wherein premium passengers are allowed to use the lounge. BHV mainly serves the residents of Bahawalpur.

Visitors arriving in town will not find any airport hotels within BHV complex. However, there are several accommodations that are easy to access from the airport. The Alinas Hotel is a casual 3-star hotel located 4.5 miles from BHV and is a popular stop for many travelers. Another hotel many passengers frequent is the Hotel Executive Lodges.
