Modibo Keita International Airport – BK0-Senou Intl.
Modibo Keita International Airport is a joint public and military airport located in Bamako, Mali. It is situated a few miles south of downtown Bamako and is the only international airport in the country. BKO Airport opened in 1974 and was constructed 380 meters above mean sea level. It is managed by the Aeroports du Mali and overseen by the Ministry of Equipment and Transport of Mali. Upgrades and expansions were applied to the airport from 2007 to 2012.
Best Time to Visit
At present, there is a single operating asphalt runway in Modibo Keita International Airport. It is currently 8.879 meters in length but will be extended to 3,180 meters as part of its improvements. Expansions and upgrades in the airport were funded by a U.S foreign aid agency, Millennium Challenge Corporation. The Mali Air Force stationed in Air Base 101 is just besides Modibo Keita International Airport. Air France, Air Senegal, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and Tunisair are among the major airlines operating in the airport. Bamako, the largest city in Mali, also its capital is a nearby destination where you can see museums a mosque and several tourist destinations.
