Brattleboro: Rustic, Unique and Eclectic Downtown Escape
Home to the Brattleboro Rat that is widely used against diabetes, Brattleboro VT was originally an asylum before it became the city that we know now. Brattleboro Retreat was the original site for the Vermont Asylum for the Insane during the 1800s. Its name was a tribute to Colonel William Brattle Jr who was the first ever grantee listed in the town. Originally spelled as Brattleborough, it is now considered as the artistic and energetic hub of the southern region of Vermont. A great place to visit and to find a home, the city is serviced by LEB Lebanon Municipal Airport and the RUT/KRUT Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport, almost an hour away from the city.
