Bua Airport- BUA
Popularly known as Palopo Lagaligo Airport, Bua Airport located in Buka, Papua New Guinea serves the areas of Palopo and those regions in Luwu Regency in the southern regions of Sulawesi Island. Covering and area of 100 hectares, it is capable of accommodating larger aircrafts with facilities that were updated in 2015. Runway extensions, an apron and taxiways were also added to the airport after receiving a 25 billion budget from the government. Fences and runway lights were also added to the airport during this major improvement in the airport. It is now one of the world-class airports that serve in Papua New Guinea.
Best Time to Visit
A single passenger terminal is available in the airport. The terminal features a departure and arrival lounge, a baggage claim area, a VIP room as well as five-star hotel standard public toilets. Even during an electricity blackout, the Bua Airport will continue to function with its automatic three engine generator inside its powerhouse. A new improve strengthened electric power of 131 kVA was also added to the airport. A new facility, an accident rescue and firefighting building is also added to the airport for emergency purposes inside the airport grounds. Jacquinot Bay is one of the nearest cities from the BUA Airport.
