Calatagan: Summer Spotlight in the Philippines
A town situated in the province of Batangas and is nestled between the West Philippine Sea and Balayan Bay is called Calatagan, Philippines. It is well-known to house many luxurious resorts along the shore of its majestic beaches. There are plenty of affluent Filipino families who have private holiday homes and mansions in town. The town’s name is derived from the Filipino word “latag” and “kapatagan” which translates into flat land and in-between hills or mountains, respectively.
Best Time to Visit
Calatagan prevails with a tropical rainforest climate. Dry and wet seasons are easily distinguished. It is best to visit the town during the first few months of the year as it is the dry season for the country. Enjoy a hot weather perfect for a long swim at one of the crystal clear beaches in town. The months of January and February may still be a bit cold but favorable nonetheless. Meanwhile, the hottest months between March and May tend to have plenty of tourists visiting the town and Calatagan PH hotels to have expensive rates.

Other hotels to check-in while in town are The Coral Beach Club or the Eagle Point Resort – located over the next town which is a bit further away. Cape Santiago Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouse in the country that still functions good up until this very day. It remains to be a notable landmark to Calatagan. The beach that the lighthouse overlooks at is called Burot Beach, one of the less touristy areas in town. Ride a boat tour to Starfish Island & Sand Bar where you can enjoy, as per the names, starfish and sands.
