Car Nicobar Air Force Base - CBD
Located in IAF Camp Village in Kakana, India, Car Nicobar Air Force Base is an Air Force Station in the Car Nicobar Islands. It has a total area of 504 acres and features a 3,000 feet bitume runway that was built by the Japanese during World War II. After the war, the airport served as a refueling base for flights between RAF Negombo located in Sri Lanka and RAF Changi located in Singapore. The Dorniers and Air Defense Unit are also based in this military airport. The airport had to stop operations in 2004 due to a devastating earthquake and tsunami and resumed three months after rehabilitation.
