Lumbia Airfield - CGY- Lumbia
Lumbia Airfield in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines was once the major domestic airport that serves flights in the metropolitan areas of Northern Mindanao, Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental. The airport was formerly known as Lumbia Airport and Cagayan de Oro Airport. The airport used to be the second busiest airport in the Mindanao region before the Laguindingan International Airport opened to replace CGY-Lumbia. Now it serves as a minor air base of the Philippine Air Force that features several OV-10 Bronco aircraft as well as MD-520MG Defender helicopters and UH-1 Huey.
Best Time to Visit
Currently owned by the Philippine government and operated by the Philippine Air Force and the United States Air Force under the jurisdiction of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement. It has been under the government since 2013 but was built in the 1930s. The Philippine Air Force completed its relocation to the airport in February 2017. Nearby local destinations to check out is Cagayan de Oro, which is known for its water parks, caves and lively ecotourism destinations.

Consider booking an accommodation at a budget-friendly Kingston Lodge, located 2.5 miles away from the airport. Pryce Plaza, another hotel less than 5-mile away from the CGY Airport is a 3-star hotel offering spacious rooms for group or family vacationers.
