Chablis: A Toast to Refined White Wines
From the department of Yonne is an agricultural community called Chablis, France. It sits on the valley of Serein, famous for its grape vines that produce one of the two best and most notable French white wines. There is a part in town where all the medieval buildings are, some of them having been converted into areas of interest such as museums. The town was also once an attractive fortress that served as a protection against invaders coming from the Serein River. The Braches Airport (AUF) serves this town.
Best Time to Visit
Chablis is undoubtedly best visited during the summer season, from months of June to August, when it is warmest and driest in town. However, if you plan to do vineyard-hopping across the numerous found in town, it is best to come between September and November when it is growing season for the grapes. In these months, you can also avoid the high traffic of tourists and expensive Chablis hotels. Though every June, a music festival titled Festival du Chablisien takes place.

About half an hour away from Chablis, you will find the hotel and restaurant complex of ibis Auxerre Sud. It is highly-rated for its cleanliness and the friendliness of its staff. Meanwhile, you can also try booking at Chambres d'hôtes Saint Nicolas where an excellent breakfast cuisine awaits you for free. Church Saint-Martin is one of the main highlights of Chablis. Along with Church of Sainte-Pierre, both are well-acclaimed for their Roman architecture and commended for being well-preserved despite being centuries old. Trying the world-renowned white wine, Chablis Chardonnay, is definitely a must. Head on to Chateau Long-Depaquit in order to do so.
