Canouan Aiport- CIW
One of the major airports located in Canouan Island, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, serving tourists as well as locals in the region is Canouan Airport. The region, being one of the most traveled leisure destinations in the region receives regular passenger flights that offers both international and charter flights. The airport serves as the main business aviation airport in the region prior to the opening of the Argyle International Airport. CIW airport was built with the traditional Grenadines style in mind. Canouan Airport features a single open-air terminal, walk boards, mobile stairways and an architecture based on the natives of the Caribbean Arawak and Tainos structures. It had an extensive modernization back in 2000 including land reclamation projects. This was completed in 2008 and allowed larger aircrafts inside the airport. The airport is currently under category six of the ICAO Index. Canouan Airport now features its own fire brigade with a fire engine suited for general and unique operations.
