University of Illinois Willard Airport (CMI) is located in Savoy in Champaign, Illinois. It is nestled in Tolono Township named in honor of the former president of the University of Illinois, Arthur Cutts Willard. In 1969, CMI-Champaign is regarded as the second busiest airport in the entire state of Illinois. In 1945, the airport was established but the terminal building was only constructed in 1960. CMI also became the base of the University of Illinois Institute of Aviation.
