Corning: Home of Race Car Speedway
Corning, IA is part of Quincy town and it is the county seat of Adams. It is just off US Highway 34 and Iowa Highway 148. Johnny Carson was born in this town. The first settlers of the town were French Icarians who came from Nauvoo, Illinois. They have established a settlement near Lake Icaria in 1854. The town was known as Icaria. The French community continued to be loyal to the Americans. However, the community split into two. One left and moved to the east and the other stayed. Today, it is the longest-lasting Icarian colony in the country.
Best Time to Visit
Every first week of June, the town is celebrating “Le Festival de L’Heritage Francais”. The town is opening up into a big market with plenty of festivities. Expect Corning, Iowa hotels to be busy during this time of the year. September to November are the best months to visit Corning in terms of weather.

Corning Opera House is one of the three opera houses located in town. It is a place to experience live performances from theater to musical. The place of interest is also a venue for trade shows.
