The Covelli Centre is formerly known as the Chevrolet Centre and used to be commonly referred to as “The Chevy Centre” or in some areas, “The Convo.” This multi-purpose facility in Youngstown in Ohio is home to the Youngstown Phantoms of the U.S. Hockey League. The naming rights of this venue was bought by Sam Covelli who owns many of the restaurants in the area. This arena’s first time to sell all tickets was in 2005 when the Trans-Siberian Orchestra performed at the venue. In 2010, tickets for Elton John’s concert were sold out in record time in just 30 minutes.
Other attractions in Youngstown include the Ward Beecher Planetarium. This science facility is located at Youngstown State University (YSU) and also serves as one of the classrooms for YSU and is the premier destination for many schools in town. Another landmark in town is the Youngstown Museum of Industry and Labor dedicated to the local labor industry in Mahoning Valley. This museum offers tours for students and tourists. At the same time, it has plenty of rental space for workshops, events, and exhibits.
