Dexter: A Hidden City
Dexter is a small city in the County of Mowe, MN, and is known for its energy-generating wind turbines and its landmark called Windmill Truckstop. What's good about this city is that it's not yet overly commercialized, and the residents were able to maintain Dexter's natural beauty. There may be quite a handful of hotels in the city, and if chosen for the best one, it has to be accessible to Rochester International Airport (RST), the nearest airport from Dexter, MN.
Best Time to Visit
The best months for tourism visits would be around June to August, while December to January has the least visits because of extremely low temperatures. The most anticipated event, however, is during February, where people gathered for the Dexter Film Festival that lasted for 3 days. Each night, they would present at least one short film that Dexter residents had been casting on. This festival will showcase its residents' talents in acting, film editing, and directing.
What to Do & Area Attractions
The Grand Meadow Generating Station is a wind farm, which Dexter is famous too. This wind farm extends to six miles long and four miles wide. There are 67 units of wind turbines with a power production capability of 1.5 MW. For a unique and understatedly cute vacation, Wykoff Jail Haus B&B is the best place to go. The room is nice, spacious, and convenient enough to stay, surrounded by a beautiful patio with flowers and space for biking. Compared to other hotels, the price rate of this hotel seemed to be lower.
