Fairfax, CA is a town in Marin County incorporated in 1931. It was named after Lord Charles Snowden Fairfax. The town was the site of the state’s last political duel in the early 1860s.

The best time to visit Fairfax is during the months of April through October. Peak tourist season is normally from June until August. Tourists are least likely to flock the town in November. Every June, the Fairfax Festival is held. People may enjoy the crafts and flea market offerings, local music, parade, and wholesome food. There is also the well-known Ecofest, which has been raising public awareness and behavior to help protect the environment since 2004.
