Shizuoka Airport – FSZ Mt. FujiShizuoka
Also known as Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport, FSZ-Shizuoka Airport is located 27 km southwest of Shizuoka Station and about 45 km from Hamamatsu. In 2009, the Shizuoka Airport opened to serve domestic routes to Sapporo, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Naha (Okinawa), Komatsu, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima. Meanwhile, the airport also connects international flights to Ningbo, Seoul, Taipei, and Shanghai.
Best Time to Visit
The Shizuoka Airport is a well-known hub for Fuji Dream Airlines. This is because FSZ is located 80 kilometers from Mt. Fuji. The Shizuoka Prefecture built the Shizuoka Airport in order to decongest airports of the Tokyo region, especially passengers heading to Shizuoka, Hamamatsu, and the Mount Fuji area. The FSZ airport is the closest airport if you’re heading to Kanaya Station. Likewise, you can take it will only take 25 minutes to Shimada Station, 42 minutes to Kakegawa Station, and 51 minutes to Hamamatsu Station from Shizuoka Airport (FSZ).

A 6-minute walk from the JR Shimada Stationwill lead you the Hotel 1-2-3 Shimada. Nearby hotels from the FSZ-Shizuoka Airport also includes the Hotel Select Inn Shimada Ekimae and the Hotel Rout-Inn Shimada Ekimae. For affordable food, you may get a bite from Ishimatsu Fujisan or ShimizuokoKaizan inside the Shizuoka Airport. For casual drinking, take a train to 51-minute train from Shizuoka Airport to Hamamatsu Station and dine at the Harebere.
FSZ was also established to bridge the gap between Tokyo Airport and the Nagoya Airport, which are 175 km and 135 km from Shizuoka respectively.
