Gomel Airport – GME
Recognized by its IATA code GME and ICAO code UMGG, Gomel Airport is a public airfield found three kilometers from the northeastern portion of the city of Gomel, Belarus. It primarily serves Gomel, the second-biggest city in the country in terms of population, and its neighboring towns in the Gomel Region. Gomel Airport became an international airport in 1993 and once served as a hub for Gomelavia Airline, whose operations stopped in 2011.

Before the establishment of the Gomel Airport in 1968, an old airfield served as the landing area for the flights coming in from Kiev and Minsk. This former airport also housed the agricultural and sanitary aviation. During its early days, Gomel Airport can only accommodate aircraft the likes of An-24. It was then developed to handle larger airplanes, and at the same time, expand the passenger terminal to handle 500 passengers every hour. Gomel Airport now mainly serves as the airport for charter flights from Gomel to various points in Spain, Italy, Belgium, and several other countries in Western Europe.
