Hamburg, Arkansas is a town that was established in 1848. It was a result of a decision that created the Ashley County and its main seat. Its name was taken from a town in South Carolina. This is where a lot of its first settlers came from. Business and churches were developed in the downtown area after it was incorporated in 1854. For years, it has become the center of government and source of supplies. The commercial downtown was built in the 19th century and today it was listed as National Register of Historic Places. The town’s growth was attributed to the construction of the railroad.

Hamburg summers are hot and humid. A lot of tourists are thinking that Spring and Fall are the ideal seasons to visit the town. April and May are the months when the land is bursting back to life. The weather is pleasant and ideal for outdoor activities. Armadillo Festival is held every first weekend of May. It is held in the downtown square which means Hamburg, Arkansas hotels are busy in the area.
