Hengshui: An Underrated Tourist Spot in Hebei

The best time to visit Hengshui is during the months of April through June and August through November, for the perfect weather. The busiest months are usually February, April, and May. Tourists are least likely to visit in December. One of the most exciting events nearby is Yinyang Music Festival in Great Wall of China, which is held every June. Since 2014, it has been promoting cultural exchanges as it focuses on and celebrates electronic music.

One of the most popular attractions in the city is Hengshui Lake, the second biggest freshwater lake in the North China Plain. It is home to several birds, such as pelicans, gulls, red-crowned cranes, swans, wild geese, among others. Another interesting site to visit nearby is Mountain Resort or Ligong in Chengde. It is a massive complex of imperial palaces and gardens. With a vast collection of Chinese architecture and landscapes, it is one of the most famous gardens in the country. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Established in the 18th century during the Qing dynasty, it has more than 70 scenic spots.
