A CDP or Census Designated Place in the state of Indiana, Howe is located within LaGrange County. Its original name was “Mongoquinong”, named by Potawatomi Indians and was later changed to Howe, IN after a local attorney named John B. Howe. It is the home of the John Badlam Howe Mansion, one of the places under the National Register of Historic Places.
