Itacare, A Coastal Paradise in Brazil
The municipality of Itacare is located in the “Cocoa Zone” in the Bahia state. It is home to around 27,000 residents only, half of which resides in the rural exterior of the municipality. In 1532, it was initially a Portuguese colonial settlement under the name of São Jorge dos Ilhéu before it became a city in 1881. Best Time to Visit
For the majority of the year, the weather in Itacare is pleasant and perfect for an everyday beach day out. Although it rains for a considerable duration of the year, the city still boasts of thriving tourism, especially in January and February. July is also one of the best times for a visit as the city hosts the Festival Sabores de Itacaré (Itacaré Flavors Festival), which features local cuisine and products. Luckily, most of Itacare, Brazil hotels are cheaper during this month as well.

Being a coastal city, Itacare boasts of numerous white sand beaches and beautiful seascape. Among the best beaches around is the Itacarezinho Beach, a 3.5 kilometer-long stretch of white sand and turquoise waters. Another must-visit beach in the area is the Jeribucaçu Beach which is not as crowded as Itacarezinho Beach but is equally beautiful. If you’re into surfing, you should head to the Resende Beach where the waves do not disappoint.
