Mangalore International Airport – IXE Mangalore
Mangalore International Airport (IXE) is an international airport in Mangalore, India. There are two international airports located in Karnataka, Mangalore Airport and Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore. IXE was opened in 1951 and was formerly called Bajpe Aerodrome.
This airport is nestled on a hill with two tabletop runways. Currently, there are only three airports in the country with tabletop runways. IXE became the first airport to have two runways in Karnataka. Having served a total of 2,240,664 passengers, Mangalore Airport is recognized as Karnataka’s second busiest airport.

This airport consists of a small terminal that was renovated to add more seating for the passengers. It was initially built to serve domestic routes to Bengaluru and Mumbai. However, in 2006, Air India Express started offering international flights to Dubai. Before it was classified as an international airport, IXE served as a customs airport.
