Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Indonesia
Located at the complex of Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta Convention Center is considered as one of the first conference centers in the city. Since its opening 1974, it has served as an important venue for many local and international fairs, exhibitions, and seminars like the Asian-African Conference and the Pacific Asia Travel Association conference. This complex in Jakarta has also hosted various concerts of internationally acclaimed celebrities such as David Foster, Gigi, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Backstreet Boys, and Maria Carey. Its assembly room can accommodate up to 3,500 guests while the next biggest hall can house 2,000 individuals.
Due to being a major destination in the area, there are many hotels surrounding this complex. One is Hotel Borobudur, a 5-star accommodation that features 23-acres of a well-manicured garden. For a more budget-friendly lodging, visitors can stay at the Sawana Suites that is just five minutes away from the convention center. It is a boutique hotel that features a swimming pool and a rooftop café where guests can relax. After attending an event at the Jakarta Convention Center, visitors can have a shopping spree at the Bellezza Shopping Arcade or the Central Park Mall. Both of these modern malls boast of having hundreds of retail shops and dining options to entertain their guests. Those who just want to relax through golfing can book a tee time at either the nearby Cengkareng Golf Club or Cikarang Golf and Country Club. To see the rich cultural influence of Chinese in the Indonesian culture, tourists can also pay a visit to its local Chinatown. Those who have more time can travel twenty miles to Bekasi to enjoy the town’s mangrove forest, Cibeureum Lake, and Parigi Waterfall.
