Kolan: A Sleepy Village of Cheese and Peace
The cozy village of Kolan, Croatia lies between the towns of Pag Town and Novalja, under the rule of the Zadar County. It was once a part of Pag Town but was separated back in 2013. Because Kolan only has less than a thousand residents, the village is a peaceful and quiet destination for getting away from the bustling city. It is also considered the home base of Pag Island’s world-renowned cheese industry, where you can learn more about the culinary tradition.

Every August, Kolan hosts a Cheese Festival, featuring their world-famous produce. Tons of people attend the celebration, fully booking most of Kolan, Croatia hotels. The summer heat can still be felt by this time of year, too.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Being near the coast, Kolan is surrounded by numerous stunning beaches, including the Strasko Beach and Zrce Beach, both boasting of crystalline waters and a long stretch of golden sand. If you prefer being indoors, make sure to include the Novalja Municipal Museum in your itinerary. This museum houses an extensive collection of ethnographic exhibits and various pieces of art from local artists.
