Lake Wales: Home to Historical Museums and Nature Escapes
Serviced by the Sebring Regional Airport, Lake Wales is a city in Florida that offers a mix of natural destinations and local attractions. Home to many young professionals and retirees, it is also one of the few cities in America that diligently provides special services and access to individuals with disabilities. Public schools are also plenty in the region and a good place to start a family. The region was named Wailes after Sidney Wailes, the man who surveyed in the region in 1879. It was later renamed to Lake Wales in 1915 after the post office was established.

Live shows and performances are featured at the Big Spring Municipal Auditorium and would be a great place to spend your lazy afternoons or early evenings. A historic home that was once home to the young U.S. President George W. Bush, George W. Bush Childhood Home features relics, furniture and other memorabilia from 1951 to 1955. These were the years when young Bush lived in Lake Wales. Another iconic and historic site to see in the region is the Glasscock County Courthouse, built in 1909 to 1910 and notable for its designs and courthouses.
