Best Time to Visit
Lalibela Airport sits at an altitude of almost 2,000 meters above the mean sea level. There is currently a single operational runway used in the airfield, an asphalt-paved airstrip spanning to a length of 2,400 meters. It was reconstructed back in 1997 under a 53 million bir project. You can fly into Lalibela via Ethiopian Airlines, the only one serving the airfield. The airlines connect the city to the towns of Addis Ababa, Gondar, Bahir Dar, and Axum. While in the region, make sure to explore the town of Lalibela.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Lalibela Airport is yet to construct an in-house airport hotel. But until then, guests can stay at the numerous accommodation surrounding the airfield, two of which are Lalibela Roha Tour and Explore-Lalibela Home Stay. Both of them are within a 10-kilometer radius from the aerodrome and are equipped with airport transfers solely for guests. However, if you’re on the lookout for fancy hotels that allow pets, you can check out Lal Hotel and Spa, which is a mere 23-minute drive away and offers free breakfast too.
