Luling: From Being a Railroad Town to a Prospering City
Founded in 1874, Luling, TX was a railroad town and became a center for cattle drivers back in the day. It is now part of Caldwell and Guadalupe County in the state of Texas. The city’s name came from a New York banker, Charles Banker. He became significant as he was a friend of the financier for the railroad and the land purchase (which is now Luling), Thomas Wentworth Pierce. Luling, Texas is also known as “the toughest town in Texas” since there was a lot of cases of contempt from the cowboys for a time.
