Best Time to Visit
Shirak Airport had been serving the city since its inauguration in 1962. Due to the high volume of passengers traveling through the airport, a new terminal was built in 1982. However, the terminal becomes inoperable because of the damaged caused by an earthquake in 1988. It was in 2004 when the terminal was renovated and became fully functional with its upgraded facilities and amenities. By 2006, a new radar system was added to the airport that has the ability to identify aircraft despite its adverse weather conditions. Recently, a new arrival hall is being constructed and is expected to become operational by 2020. With all these upgrades, passengers that are planning to visit Kars, may do so with ease.
