Magelang: Where Culture and History Collide
Magelang is one of the cities in Central Java, located in the Magelang Regency in Indonesia. The then-village known as Mantyasih was established in 907. During the British colonization of Magelang, it was made as the seat of government; and during the Dutch colonization, the city was made as the center of the economy due to its strategic location. Magelang also became and army stronghold for the pro-independence movement of Indonesia during the resistance period against the Dutch.
