Malay Heritage Center is both a museum and a cultural center that exhibits the history, culture, and heritage of the Malay community in Singapore, Singapore. Located in Kampong Glam, the establishment was once a Malay palace called Istana Kampong Glam that undergone a restoration project in 1999. It reopened in 2005 as Malay Heritage Center that has been showcasing everything about the Malay Singaporeans through ancient artifacts, displays, dioramas, and multimedia. Apart from that, the center also conducts programs and workshops based on Malay culture.
Starting from August 2011, Malay Heritage Center was closed for more renovations, and it began operating again in September 2012. The surrounding areas of the museum, like Bukit Merah, is jam-packed with excellent hotels that provide great services and accommodation. Hotel 81-Heritage and the Aliwal Park Hotel are some of the nearest hotels to the center. These hotels have comfy rooms and near the metro station. Oakwood Premier AMTD Singapore, on the other hand, is located in the heart of the Central Business District and features 268 units and serviced apartments complete with modern amenities. The Amoy Street Food Centre is also within the central business district and it is where several stalls selling various local dishes from old favorites to modern food items. Meanwhile, less than half an hour from the heritage center are Adventure Cove Waterpark and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, which are both perfect for visitors of all ages. The former provides thrilling water activities, while the latter offers a great opportunity to get closer to nature.
