Marshall, Alaska: A City of Spectacular Aurora Views
Situated on the bank of North Polte Slough, Marshall is a city in the Kusilvak Census Area, Alaska. Established in 1880, an expedition called “Uglovaia” settled in the area. When gold was discovered in 1913, it became a mining camp called “Fortuna Ledge.” The town was incorporated in 1970 and was named after Thomas Riley Marshall, officially changing the name to Marshall, Alaska in 1984. Today, the town is a close-knit community of about 500 inhabitants with majority of its residents are of AK Native Race.

This festival is held annually in July. Another popular event is the Alaska Folk Festival, a gathering of musicians in the state that takes place in April.
