Meishan: A City Living In The Dynasty
Meishan, formerly known as Meizhou or Qingzhou, is a city located in the Sichuan province of China. An administrative organization was first established in the year 496, during the early dynasties. The city is known to be the hometown of Su Dongpo and his two sons, who were notable poets of the Northern Song Dynasty. Geographically, the Minjiang and Qingyi rivers go through the city. The region mostly consists of low mountainous areas and plains. The nearest possible airport is the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, which is 50 miles from Meishan.
Best Time to Visit
Spring and summer months are the best times to visit Meishan with to experience ideal weather. These months, however, entails higher Meishan, China hotel rates. Visiting during fall season up to October is better for comfortable weather and affordable rates.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Several sites in Meishan are visited to admire its historical and ecological values. The Memorial Temple of Three Sus is the home of the three great poets of the Northern Song Dynasty, which was reconstructed as a memorial temple in the Yuan Dynasty. One can also visit Wawushan National Forest Park where it covers a landmass area of 268 square miles. The Wawu Mountain located in the park is a famous Taoist shrine, together with Mt. Emei, are known to be two wonders of the Sichuan province.
